As
we progress down our lives, it becomes easier to accept the faltering, the
mis-steps, the unfulfilled dreams – more so when we strive to do it on our own.[i] Even when we are abundantly sure, strong in a
faith of the one true God, he that creates us.
Our first fledgling step away on our own, hardens our heart and we
become unwilling to own up to our misdeeds, our mistakes and we need once more
to become ‘worthy’ of grace, worthy even of kneeling, of walking at the foot of
our savior.
It is one thing to accept the possibility of fulfilling
one’s mortality; perchance to be hit by the proverbial bus. It is quite another to have our expendability
echoed through a daily reaffirmation; perchance to be thrown under the
bus… I am of the understanding that each
of us knows that we are replaceable, and at times without notice, no reminder
needed. However, for a Director to
casually mention and remind mid management that his people are expendable only
confirms the lack of value the director places on them as well as the mid
management. Working from a fear of job
loss, is a poor taskmaster. Essentially
this modus operandi reflects a failing in management – frightened workers will
excel to the level of mere compliance, and that questionably so.
